HAC with a Haul of Medals and PBS at Enfield and Wycombe Meets

The past 2 weekends have seen Hackney Age Group swimmers travel to Enfield and Wycombe to compete in 2 separate meets. Below are the meet reports for both.

Enfield Meet Report 2017

Hackney Aquatics returned from Southbury Road with an impressive haul of 90 medals; of which 26 were gold, 35 were silver and 29 Bronze.

The morning began with some great IM swims and a number of new personal bests, thanks in no small part to the great team atmosphere that emanated from our section of the poolside, led by our young C Squad swimmers!

This energy carried on throughout the day, with standout performances from Ilyas Ahmed, Margot Celestine, Zac Zeldin-Steinmann, Mika Ogden, Thomas Archer, Freya Duckworth, Ophelia Taggart and many more contributing to not only our fantastic medal tally, but also an incredible number of personal bests and skilful displays.

Many new faces represented Hackney Aquatics Club at this meet and B Squad coach Richard Beard was impressed with their attitude, "it was great to see them take our ethos of swimming fast with great skills to heart. In particular we stood out as a team with fast under waters, proving that emphasising them in training is paying off". A great job from all swimmers!

Wycombe Meet Report 2017

A very good weekend at Wycombe saw some huge PBS at the first meet inside the national qualifying window. The meet was a tough test for our A Squad swimmers with only a few able to qualify due to the very high standard of swimmers competing. This didnt deter the 5 HAC swimmers who made the trip to Buckinghamshire as they came away with a number of big PBS.

Ryan McCoy swam 100% PBS with a 3 second drop in his 400IM, 4 seconds on his 200 free, 1 second on his 50 free and a big 2 second PB in the 100 free to see him under 1 minute for the first time.

Lily Girardet swam a huge 6 second PB in the 200 back, she was just under her PB in the 50 back and just over in the 50 free despite being ill.

Jude Costley swam a very good 100 back knocking 2 seconds off his PB and Tahlia Deaner knocked a full second off her 50 free PB on her comeback from a broken collarbone.

Ella Sharman also had 2 good swims just outside her PBS.

8/11 PBS and some excellent racing 2 weeks before the team rest for the Youth County Championships!
