Middlesex County Age-group and Youth Championships 2018

The MCASA Age-group champs took place at Southbury’s 8-lane, 25m pool over 4 days on

20th + 21st Jan 2018 + 3rd + 4th February 2018. Age-group category comprised of swimmers between the ages of 10 – 13.

 

Hackney Aquatics had 32 swimmers participating in the single and some team Medley events.

They won 7 gold, 6 silver, 7 bronze medals with 64 swims achieving top 8 finishes.

This represents an 300% increase of top-8 finishes compared to the previous year.

 

Head Coach Rick Hall was particularly impressed with the wide age range of swimmers the club had competing at the championships ‘Across 2 weekends we saw swimmers racing from age 9 to 18 years old and for the first time we are seeing real strengths across all our age groups.  Many swimmers were competing at their first County Championships and they swam superbly’.

Cressida Taggart 50, 100 and 200 backstroke.

Tasso Hatzakis 200 butterfly.

Isla Silva 100 Individual Medley.

Girls 12 yr old. 4x50 free Relay

 

Bronze Medal Winners

Mika Ogden won bronze in the 50 freestyle, 50 backstroke, 50 butterfly and 200 IM.  

Tasso Hatzakis 50 backstroke.

Boys 10-11 yr old. 4x50 Medley Relay.

Boys 10-11 yr old. 4x50 freestyle (Tasso, Llewellyn, Sam Aaron).

 

4th place finishes for Sean Eloidin 100 free. Tasso Hatzakis 50 fly. Ley N Ito 50 and 100 breast. Mika Ogden 100 free. 100 fly and 100 IM. Total 7.

 

5th place finishes for Sam Adams 50 back. Tasso Hatzakis 100 back, 100 fly. Bryan Piedra Ojeda 50 free. Llewellyn Porter 100 IM. Aranka Serfozo-Celik 100 breast. Isla Silva 200 free. Total 7.

 

6th place finishes for Tasso Hatzkis in 200 back and 100 IM. Ley N Ito 200 breast. Bryan Piedra Ojeda 100 IM. Llewellyn Porter 50 fly. Ophelia Taggart 50 fly. Total 6.

 

7th place finishes for Bryan Piedra Ojeda 50 back. Llewellyn Porter 200 IM. Cressida Taggart 400 free, 50 fly and 200 IM. Ophelia Taggart 200 back. Total 6.

 

8th place finishes for Asher Duckworth 200 breast. Sean Eloidin 50 free, 200 free, 400 free, 50 back. Llewellyn Porter 100 back. Ophelia Taggart 100 back. Total 7.

 

MCASA Youth Championships from 14 years upwards were held at the London Aquatic Centre 10-lane 50 m pool on 27th and 28th January 2018.

 

Hackney Aquatics had 24 youth swimmers competing in the event. They won 4 Gold, 9 Silver and 5 Bronze medals in individual events. This represents a considerable increase from last year’s medal haul. 56 swims achieved top 8 finishes, 73 swims top 10 finishes.
