Swimmer of the Month - Supported by Arena and Petchey- May
Well done to our May 2019 Swimmer of the Month winners. The SOTM is awarded to swimmers who work hard, show great performance in training and competition, have a good attendance record, demonstrate great team spirit, and are respectful and well-mannered to each other and their coaches.
Each winner will receive an Arena goody pack and certificate. The Petchey winner will also receive an extra certificate and access to the Petchey Foundation
Martha Holt – HAC 3
For her overall improvement since she started with us, she is a great listener, is keen to learn and always takes on board feedback. She has mostly improved on her butterfly and Breaststroke and is a pleasure to teach. Martha is also very polite and at this rate she will soon be catching up to her brother who swims in our Squad program.
Lena Westgate – Perf Age
For continuing to have great attitude and work ethic despite not being in major competitions to the end of the season, still approaching training fantastically and demonstrating good improvements as a result.
Marco Roberts – Perf Youth
For working incredibly hard both in and out of the pool to develop his technique, skills and racing ability. Marco has a fantastic attitude, is very polite and has stepped up to every challenge the coaches have asked him to do. His hard work has paid off with numerous medals and finals at the Regional Championships and his first ever qualification for the British and English National Championships.
Masters (honourable mention)
HAC Coaching Team would like to share with the Club their commendation for Masters swimmer Julia Warwick, who entered her first ever Masters meet in May in the 50 & 100 Breaststroke events … this was despite, at the time of entering, Julia not being able to perform a block start or touch turn like a Pro. For showing that no matter your age you can certainly learn new skills at a high level; for being able to laugh through the many wobbly moments of fear and for epitomising what Masters is all about: just having a go - the coaches wish to share and give praise to Julia for taking her first very brave steps in Competition swimming.
