Many young people drop out of competitive sports during their teenage years, as it becomes more difficult to juggle school and other commitments, and they feel the pressure to focus on those things that will help them with their future career choices.
At HAC, we are mindful of the challenge of keeping our swimmers in the sport, while also offering them vital training and learning opportunities that will broaden their experience, look great on a CV and even give students some extra UCAS points.
Our Young Volunteers Scheme is open to all swimmers aged 14+ who are willing to commit to the extra time.
HAC Young Volunteers help out as assistant coaches and at events, and are given formal training in technical coaching and officiating skills.
Two of our volunteers have been offered the opportunity to gain formal coaching qualifications this season.
